Take That kondigt nieuwe tournee aan

De Britse boysband Take That gaat opnieuw toeren. Dat hebben Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald en Jason Orange bekend gemaakt. Volgende zomer trekken ze door Groot-Brittannië. De vier zullen tijdens hun "Stadium of Light"-tournee vooral in grote stadions optreden.

De jongens starten hun tournee op 6 juni 2009 en zullen halt houden in onder meer Cardiff, Glasgow en Manchester. Op 3 en 4 juli 2009 zullen ze dan twee slotconcerten houden in Wembley in Londen.

MTV Europe Music Awards
Eerder deze maand raakte ook bekend dat het viertal na veertien jaar opnieuw te zien zal zijn tijdens de MTV Europe Music Awards van 6 november in Londen. De Britse band zal tijdens de awardshow optreden.

Take That scoorde vooral in de jaren '90 hits met nummers als "Pray" en "Babe". In 1996 ging de groep uit elkaar, maar in 2006 kwam er een reünie, wel zonder Robbie Williams die voor zijn solocarrière koos.

Het nieuwe album "Circus" komt uit op 1 december. (ka)

Take That keert terug bij MTV Awards

(Novum) - Take That maakt na veertien jaar zijn rentree tijdens de MTV Europe Music Awards. De Britse band treedt op tijdens de awardshow, die op 6 november plaatsvindt in Liverpool. Dat heeft MTV woensdag bekendgemaakt.

Take That trad in 1994 op tijdens de eerste editie van het jaarlijkse prijzengala in Berlijn en nam ook de award voor beste groep in ontvangst. Op 6 november brengt de groep de eerste single 'Greatest day' van het nieuwe album ten gehore. De single verschijnt op 24 november, terwijl het album 'The circus' een week later in de winkels ligt.

Naast Take That treden sterren als Beyoncé, Pink, Duffy, The Killers en Kid Rock op tijdens de MTV Awards, die wordt gepresenteerd door de Amerikaanse zangeres Katy Perry.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange en Howard Donald kwamen in 2006 na tien jaar weer bij elkaar. De comeback van de jongensband uit de jaren negentig bleek succesvol. Van het album 'Beautiful world' kwamen de singles 'Patience' en 'Shine' meteen op één terecht in de Britse hitlijsten. Ook de wereldtournee werd een groot succes. Oud-bandlid Robbie Williams werd ook uitgenodigd voor de reünie van de boyband, maar hij had er geen oren naar.
